Archosaurs Galore!
Yesterday, we visited the St. Augustine Alligator Farm.

Gators and other crocodylians aren’t the only archosaurs there. There’s a ton of local bird species as well.
The Alligator Farm is a special place for us, as it is the site of my husband’s and my third date – the date that clinched the deal, 14+ years ago. This time we brought our son.Continue reading “Archosaurs Galore!”
Thirsty Thursday – December’s Brewing Madness
Something clicked in the last couple of weeks, and I’ve been brewing like crazy. The end result is this current state of my living room:

Art Every Day – Day 30
This morning I was inspired. I had planned on spending the day grading exams and maybe working on the quiver I told you about earlier this month. Instead, I came upon this post:
I had to make one.
I didn’t have all the suggested materials, but I knew I could improvise. (Next year’s will be a lot better though).
I started with two empty 12-pack boxes. All right, I bought a new one just for the occasion. Quite a sacrifice, I know. Then I selected 24 bottles of brewed deliciousness, either home-brewed or store-bought.

Lorem Ipsum is Dead
For most folks, they’ve only seen the phrase ‘Lorem Ipsum’ when using a PowerPoint template for the first time.
Lorem Ipsum is a term to describe dummy text inserted to show what a printed page will look like when real text is there. There are lots of Lorem Ipsum generators out there. Some are ordinary, and some are… entertaining.
Since I’ve been looking at Lorem Ipsum generators today, as a means for those who’ve hand-written their NaNoWriMo novels (50k words, one month!) to get an electronic version for verification on the official NaNoWriMo website, I thought I’d share my favorites.
Dullsville Lorem Ipsum generator
If all you want is some innocuous filler text, this will do the job.

Art Every Day – Day 29 – I’m still here
My goal for November was to do some art every day. It was a challenge I accepted. I failed a bit. The last ten days I’ve done no visual arts, but I did finish writing 50,000 fresh new words on a novel that’s going to be totally awesome when it’s finished.
In other words, I won NaNoWriMo. (I’ll share some excerpts soon, as soon as I actually finish the story.)
So today I thought I might finish the art project I started at the beginning of the month. You, know the one with all the fish? Here’s my last fish:

With this final fish, I completed a lovely pop-culture pun, below.Continue reading “Art Every Day – Day 29 – I’m still here”
Thirsty Thursday (on Friday) – Racking the Cider
Two weeks ago, I started a hard cider using locally grown apples.
It’s been happily bubbling away in the dining room these past two weeks. It was time, yesterday, to rack it into a smaller carboy.
