Sickness and Health

Hello followers,

Betcher wondering why nothing has been posted here in the last week.

Alas, I’ve been sick. Really sick. Presumably just a virus, but a tough one. Maybe the flu (my favorite summer affliction). We’ll see.

I’m operating at about 80% right now, trying to direct my limited resources at the things that are most demanding: family and work. The blog, and writing in general, has taken a massive hit. I haven’t exercised in more than a week. I did, finally, yesterday, do a little sewing. After a three-hour mid-day power nap.

Hopefully the coming week will see me back to my old self.

Interaction and Entitlement

Here’s where I wax philosophical. Forgive me if I offend. I had this revelation today, after waiting for my very late cable guy. I wanted to share my thoughts, and see if you agree (or disagree).

Mental Health Days

My appointment at the university where I work is a strange one. I’m not faculty. My title is not professor. But I do most of the same things that professors have to do: I teach, do research, write papers, submit grant proposals. Things I don’t have to do are: advise graduate students, go to faculty meetings, and worry about getting enough grant money and publications to get tenure.Continue reading “Mental Health Days”
