In one week I begin the long trek across the country, from my home in western New York State, to Laramie, WY (and then to Vernal, UT), for three weeks of field work.

Vrr’ak’l
Today I’m sorting my field equipment for my field season (a month of camping) which starts in about a week. In the process, I’m cleaning up my home office a bit.
I was putting some of my old artwork away, and I came across this tiny scratch board drawing.
It’s a Vrr’ak’l from the Stink Bug story. I drew this more than 20 years ago. Guess I’ve been thinking about these guys for a while.
Stink Bug – Chapter 15
The Vrr’ak’l had dispersed. Tr’b’l had vanished into the canopy. K’eel and W’oo’woo still sat on each side of me, shielding me with their warm feathers. W’oo’woo was clucking quietly to himself, scratching at the ground with his beak from time to time. K’eel was tracing patterns in the dust with the worn tip of an old, shed feather.
