A Visit to Beechwood State Park

We managed to get out of the house today for a while. Beechwood State Park is close enough to us, that we should be able to go there quite frequently. I was a little horrified to realize that it has been more than a month since last we were there.

Growing up Husky

Some time ago, I posted about the newest member of our family and how excited we were that he was coming to live with us.

Comet at 6.5 weeks old. Ten days before moving in with us.

Comet is a Siberian Husky. We decided to get a dog because we though it would help our autistic son with understanding non-verbal communication. We also hope that Comet will be a good playmate for our son.

On November 15, Comet moved in.

The excitement of moving was a little taxing.

Wait. What happened?

I awoke this morning to learn it was 2016. Strange. It didn’t feel any different.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsBut it is different. Though the changing of the year is nearly completely arbitrary (I mean, why doesn’t it happen on the solstice?), it is a well defined opportunity to look back on the previous year and consider what I might do to make things better in the next.

This is, of course, what everyone refers to as ‘New Year Resolutions.’ For myself, I have several, a couple that are specific to this blog.

…A charger, some feathers, and an old clothespin;
…Golden fabric and an empty spool for ribbon;
…A tea light and a credit card that really shouldn’t be there;
…A pink pencil, purple pen, and three matching pink erasers;

Add in the comments other fun things you see!

(And meanwhile, I’ll work on cleaning this up a bit – whoopee!)

Mechanical Monday – Motorized Mayhem

We already knew we’d be pressed for time to get our son to his Monday therapy group. The husband planned to head home to get the boy while I was teaching, so that we could rendezvous at the therapist’s office. I did not expect to get this text message when I got done with my class.

Naturally the engineer uses the term ‘failure.’ Equally naturally, the scientist understands completely.

Wednesday’s Whimsy

I stayed home sick today. I’m still sick. I hope that I’m un-sick tomorrow. This sick business stinks.

In the meantime, I laid around a lot, and fiddled on Twitter (and Facebook, too). This tweet caught my eye:

What’s Brew? January 17, 2015

I’m pretty pleased with myself that I managed to type 2015 and not 2014. I imagine it will be October before I get it right consistently.

But I digress..

I discovered yesterday that in with the current frigid winter temperatures, the only room in the house that’s sufficiently warm for fermentation in my bedroom. So I am currently sharing my sleeping quarters with three carboys of fermenting loveliness.
