Growing up Husky

Some time ago, I posted about the newest member of our family and how excited we were that he was coming to live with us.

Comet is a Siberian Husky. We decided to get a dog because we though it would help our autistic son with understanding non-verbal communication. We also hope that Comet will be a good playmate for our son.

On November 15, Comet moved in.

The excitement of moving was a little taxing.

Driving home, I heard my son quietly talking to Comet in the back seat. He said, ‘Don’t worry Comet. You’re going to live a long happy life with us in your new home. I’m going to take good care of you. That I promise.’ I had to work hard not to start bawling while driving. It was just a little something in my eye. That’s all.

Then the fun began.

The first snow of the season. (Sadly, thus far the only snow of the season.) Comet loves the snow!

We went on our first walking adventure!

There were late night walks…

As a Husky, Comet isn’t yet the kind of dog that can be let out without a leash. But also as a Husky, he tends to get a little warm. So an outdoor run was needed.

And the scenery is fascinating!

We’ve learned that digging is the most fun thing ever! Especially if it’s in the sandbox in the park.

Comet enjoyed is first Christmas with us. He got, among other things, a new ball to play with.

And now he’s old enough for the ‘big boy’ vaccines, so he got his first rabies shot just before the new year.

Here we are now at the beginning of 2016 with a happy healthy little puppy. Looking forward to many great adventures to come!
