Under the Influence

National Blog Posting Month – January 2014 – Pressure

Prompt – Are you good at influencing other people?

——

*waves hand like Obi Wan*

You want to do your homework.

*waves hand again*

You really want to do your homework.

*shrugs*

Or just do what you want.

I like to think I can influence people. I don’t know if I really do, although I must admit, I’ve had a lot of my students lately telling me that they’ve decided they want to major in geology now.

*shrug*

Maybe they always wanted to be geoscientists. Or maybe it is me.

So I don’t know if I really influence people, but at least people regard me positively and see my interests in a positive light because I’m always so darn enthusiastic about them.

Is that influence?

Are you confusing “influence” with “persuade”? (Had you said “or else” I would have wondered about “coerce”. 😉 ) The thing about influencing someone is that your effect isn’t usually revealed until sometime later. It’s more indirect that trying to get someone to do his homework. Give it a decade or two. 🙂
