This winter thus far has been a series of small snow storms (3 inches, max), followed by bursts of warmth that melt the snow off.

Today has been among the hardest of my life.
Charlie moved in with me in January of 2001. He was about 2 years old. Fifteen years later – today – I had to lay him to rest.


We managed to get out of the house today for a while. Beechwood State Park is close enough to us, that we should be able to go there quite frequently. I was a little horrified to realize that it has been more than a month since last we were there.


The whole family was there.

Some time ago, I posted about the newest member of our family and how excited we were that he was coming to live with us.

Comet is a Siberian Husky. We decided to get a dog because we though it would help our autistic son with understanding non-verbal communication. We also hope that Comet will be a good playmate for our son.
On November 15, Comet moved in.

Comet is a dog. A puppy, actually. As I write this, Comet is 6.5 weeks old.
He will move in with us (barring unforeseen disaster) in a couple of weeks. We’re getting him in hopes that maybe, just maybe, a dog in the home will be a benefit to our son, who has high-functioning Autism, among other challenges.Continue reading “Countdown to Comet”
