We finally have a spacecraft close enough to Jupiter that we can take photos of the planet’s poles and better understand what is happening below the cloud tops.

Why does it matter?
These new data allow us to better understand the planet that is Jupiter, to clarify and increase the precision of what we thought the structure of the planet was, and to take really, really cool pictures.
