Prompt – Winter and summer are two seasons that have songs clearly associated with the time period. But are there any songs that remind you of fall?
——
I always think of Fall and early Winter when I hear the song “California Dreamin’.”
All the leaves are brown, and the sky is grey…
Yeah, I know the next line is about going for a walk on a Winter’s day, but still, it evokes images of what fall is to me: grey skies, brown leaves, and a chilly wind. Snow is not required, but could happen.
How many times have I gone trick-or-treating under such circumstances? How many Thanksgiving dinners have been eaten on a grey and windy day?
Fall is that to me. As soon as the gorgeous colors pass in October, the Earth settles in for Winter. It hunkers down and quietly waits for the snows to come. The trees drop their leaves. The animals scurry off to hibernate. And we seek shelter in the warmth of our homes.
And we wait for the sun to come again.
