Deppo-Deppo-Doo and Other Clever Songs

National Blog Posting Month – May 2013 – Comfort

Prompt – Did you have a favourite stuffed animal or lovey as a child?  Tell us about it.

——

Did I have a favorite stuffed animal? Clearly a rhetorica question. He-he.

I was one of those kids who would be buried in their stuffed animals at night. I still have a bunch of them. Geez, I should take pictures (but I won’t).

There were Ulee, Uni, and June, all of whom were stuffed unicorns. Ulee was the dad, June, the mom, and Uni was their kid.

Then, one of my favorites, was the beanbag alligator called Deppo-Deppo-Doo (which is apparently what I thought Fred Flintstone was saying). He had a simple song that he enjoyed: “My name is, Deppo-Deppo-Doo. My name is, Deppo-Deppo-Doo. My name is, Deppo-Deppo-Doo.” And repeat ad nauseum. Deppo later got a wife named Magenta. She was also a stuffed gator, magenta in color (I was creative).

Then there was Squirmy. Squirmy was a baby-blue robe tie, with button eyes and green yarn hair sewn on one end. I loved Squirmy.

And then all the others, like Mr. Arf, the seal, and Baby Blue, the blue pegasus. Pussy Willow, the cat. And I still have most of them. I should dig them out and take pictures. I sure did love them! And I still do!
