The Last Day – #Paleontology Field Work 2018 – Day 15

The last full day of field work dawned beautifully.

Already warm…

As is always the case with the last day, everyone feels a little pressure to wrap everything up…

No pressure, really.

…but we’re also so exhausted that another day in the field feels like walking through a field of rocks.

All the rocks, and not a single fossil.

Fossils can be found sometimes in the most unexpected places, and this little foot was found on a butte in the middle of a sea of sandstone.

An essentially complete hind foot of some little mammal.

We survived, and now the field season is over, except for the breaking down of camp that comes the next day.
