Z is for Zymurgy

Zymurgy is a cool word. I like it. It is a synonym of zymology, which is also cool, but not as cool.

Zymurgy makes me think of alchemy, which makes me want to change lead into gold.

Zymurgy is the study of the process of turning sugar water into a marvelous fermented beverage. So, it is a little like making gold from lead.

So zymurgy is the study of fermentation. It’s also the name of the magazine put out six times a year by the American Homebrewers Association.
