Hercules – The Aftermath

Well, we got pounded again last night. I didn’t measure (I should have), but I’m sure we got close to two feet of snow from winter storm Hercules.

Here’s what our driveway looked like this morning, before I cleared it.

Check out the drifts! Can you tell where the driveway is supposed to be? Compare this with the similar shot from yesterday here.

I started shoveling it by hand. Thankfully soon thereafter, my husband got the snow thrower going again.

By the time we were done, our driveway looked a lot like the trench on the Death Star.

Despite the snow and the sub-zero wind chills, there were still lovely things to see.

The berries on this burning bush (Euonomys) are a striking red against the snow.

And at the end of the day, the sun finally peeked through the clouds.

There's the sun, peeking through the icicles, just before sunset.

We’re only a few weeks into winter. Already looks like it’ll be a long and difficult one.
