Another day of the 73rd annual meeting of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology is in the record books. As with every Friday night of the annual meeting, we held the annual auction.
We have a live and a silent auction and sell donated items. The proceeds benefit various SVP programs, most often in support of student research.
We sell items such as these below:

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsI’ve told you a bit about the auction. I’m on the auction committee. We wear costumes based on a theme for the live auction. I couldn’t tell you the theme we used before, because we keep it a big secret. Now I can tell you.
The theme was “Monsters of Filmland”

It wound up being almost a Halloween theme, a day late, of course.

We’ll find out tonight how much the auction made. For myself, I walked (swam?) away with a lovely painting and a saber-tooth tiger skull replica. A good time was held by all.
